Visited as part of a (quite large) organised trip from Sub Brit. As you will all know access to closed underground stations is pretty much impossible so to actually get to visit one of these places is rare indeed.

The station was opened in 1907 by the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway (CCE&HR) company, as part of its branch to Highgate. South Kentish Town is located on the Northern Line between Kentish Town and Camden Town and due to its close proximity to these two stations it was not used much during its lifetime. It was closed during a power station strike on 5th June 1924 and never reopened. During the war, the lift shaft was blocked, the platform was removed, a barrier was placed between the platform area and the track and a floor erected to make the station a two storey air raid shelter. All this was removed later since they restricted the speed trains could pass through the station. The station has now been converted into the Omega Sauna and Massage Parlour;) and Cash Converters.

Lovely mate. This is the one underneath Cash Converters isn't it? There is a great book called Underground by Tobias Hill which features a lot of ghost stations, Down Street, British Museum etc but particularly here.

There was a story about this place about a man who got off here by mistake in the 1950's and became trapped down there. I think it was based on a partially true story. I always wanted to go here. Nicely lit pictures too mate. :thumb
