The remains of Raynes Jetty and the still used CEMEX Jetty can clearly be seen from the main A55 which runs around the coast of North Wales. The jetty was originally built in 1873 by the Raynes family and was then modernised and used by Hansons. It now lays abandoned and wrecked. It consists of two huge conveyor lines, lifts, hoppers and a jetty for loading onto large ships, up to 5000 tonne vessels could be loaded.

Finding your way in is annoying and the belts, buildings and pier have been heavily copper stripped and vandalised. Just up the road about half a mile away is the still operational CEMEX Jetty, ships can be seen loading here most of the time :thumb

There is no way onto the actual pier, it is heavily welded and sealed up, shame as it still looks very safe and I have a thing about piers LOL. Visited with Squirrel68 on a lovely sunny day.

Always been meaning to get around to this at some stage, the quarry behind this jetty is abandoned as well i'm sure.
