Cold Hesledon was part of the ROTOR system of improved radar brought in after WW2. The bunker here was an R1 CEW station and would have looked and been designed just like the still standing staion at RAF Bempton down the road 50 miles or so.

The main bunker has been capped and filled with old MOD concrete fence posts, people still seem to be determined to get down here and about 10 ft of shaft has now been cleared. All that remains of this one are a few radar sheads, some mast mounts and a giant hill with the bunker nicely sealed inside LOL

I love Cold War junk so I had to stop, Subbrit report HERE (http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/sites/c/cold_hesledon/index.html):thumb
