I've not managed to find out a single thing about this landmark of the Hull skyline, perhaps others can help me out. Visited today with Thin Ice (nice to meet you :thumb), MagooČ and Scary Mary.

This one was hard work for various reasons and has taken a couple of attempts but we finally got in today and and were totally underwhelmed. What a let down :( The old warehouses next door were much more fun and photogenic so I'll put a report up for them separately ;)

From the outside this really is a dramatic looking building

Inside the taller building are dozens of hoppers? I think that's what they're called anyway. There's not much else in there and they seem to go right to the top of the building. There's a ladder that goes to the top but I didn't climb all the way as it looked like an awful lot of effort to see a landing at the top... glad I didn't carry on as it happened, as I would have been stuck up there when we had 'visitors' :ohmy

Inside the second smaller building under years' worth of pigeon shit was some machinery but nothing to get excited about.

A lovely light on these pictures Muse, and some nice machinery. The fire escape is terrifying.

I cheated, the externals with the lovely light were taken last week much later in the day :D

The fire escape looks like a deathtrap and it was pretty windy by the river.

Well it was great meeting you lot, the incident involving the visitors that was classic though.

All I know about the place is that it did stuff with Rapeseed Oils and as been derelict since something like the 1970s. Its grade 2 listed and like most derelict sites had a stint where a dodgy motor/ car group used or dumped on the site.

Still looks not too bad Muse-or is that just your pics making it look better? What's this 'visitors' bit? Something to do with Lost?:p

Just gotta love the fire escape  Anyone dare go down it? Thought there was active security on this one?

Good pics there. I agree that the externals make the place look amazing. Really like the picture of the broken window on the second floor :thumb

Cheers guys.

I like the Kinder Egg analogy Blober lol

The visitors gave us a bit of a scare and we thought we'd been rumbled by the builders/demo guys who were still on site when we entered but it turned out to be a bunch of pikey/chav kids... racing hearts all round but ultimately no problem.

Rebel, no we didn't venture onto the fire escape, there's a big gap between where it ends and the building begins, you'd need a long board or climbing gear or something like that to get onto it. No sign of security as such (on two visits) but the builders work weekends ;)

Yeah but at least the little darlings set up that pallet for us to gain entry to the upper floors:D

Nice report and pics mate:thumb

I think I recall seeing this place once before, someone did claim the fire escape if memory serves me :ohmy

At least 4 people within the urban exploration scene have done it if I recall.

I would climb it no bother, it's obviously not going anywhere and only a complete cock sucker could actively fall off the thing ;)

Its not falling off of it that is the concern, its falling through it/ with it. Many steps are hair thin and held in place with pigeon shit. Other parts of the flat sections are missing panels all together.

Also going up the internal ladder going through the escape door at the top and then taking a photo from the top of the escape doesn't count as conquering the escape :-P

Great looking externals, wish they built 'em like that nowadays.

Cheers everyone.

A quick look on flickr tells me that one of our members has been to the top but I don't know which way he got there :D

if that's me, then the internal ladder was the only way I'd go..

when you're stood underneath that external staircase looking up, you can just about see through some of the treads, scares the poop outta me!

In my opinion, the ladder's worth the climb, but then I'm a window cleaner so it's kinda in the blood!
