Here we have the National Picture Theatre in Hull. Opened on 23 December 1914, containing 1050 seats in the stalls and 1 balcony. The theater was bombed in March 1941 during the blitz, taking a direct hit. The building now has listed status as a reminder of the blitz by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport after a campaign by the National Civilian WWII Memorial Trust in feb 2007. It is believed to be the only surviving building from the blitz - 95% of housing was damaged. The cinema survived only because the council didnt have enough money to pull it down...
