I arrived at the ferry terminal in good time having driven a 2 hour + journey to get here.
As it turned out the ferry was 30 minutes late departing as the crew were farting about
in the engine compartment hitting bits of machinery to try and make the engine start.
It finally fired into life and we were away on a 20 minute ferry ride across the sea to "the island".

The Island is more or less a square mile in size. There have been 3 major leisure projects that have
built here in the past 10 years. All have since failed. It's these projects I have come to explore:

1) Beach Resort
2) 18 hole golf course + club house
3) Mediterranean theme high end holiday apartments

It's going to take me a further 1-2 trips to cover the last 2 locations. I sorely underestimated the
ground I had to cover to explore the resort alone, then to locate the golf club and apartments
was a too tall of an order for the short time I had.
When I explore the last two locations I will post them in this report, so stay tuned till then.

Location 1 : The beach resort
The beach resort is a mix of individual chalets and hotel room blocks. What's so bloody amazing
about this place is that all the main equipment and furnishings have been left inside each
room. I assume the hassle of carting it all back to the mainland isn't worth it, so it's all been
left here.

I was the only guest there that day and I fully enjoyed my time :D

thanks guys.

@KE: the wording on the key is a simple photoshop thingumytrick.

When I was there I did see guys cutting the grass, so I am sure there must be
some cleaning/maintenance crews keeping the general buildings in a manageable state.
As for security, I'm sure someone keeps an eye on the place, otherwise
fisher folk would be making beach landings and outfitting their shacks with 4 star
hotel stuff up and down the coast.

Couple more pics

A conference hall, they had 2 large conference halls + a huge main ball room, sadly the ball room
was one of the few sections that was locked.

could you not get into the top o the range ones

these pics are amazing

Yup could also get into them as well, nothing special inside them though.
These suites had a 2 separate bedrooms, living room, patio area.

One of these suites had some kind of medical looking bed inside, maybe
they used this room for the masseuse.

PART 2 ::

The last two locations to cover on "the island" were the holiday apartments and golf course.
The apartments were staggered in clusters on the lower slopes of the islands 2nd highest
hill. Directly on top of this hill was perched the main golf club house. The golf course
covers most of the island and is still maintained by groundskeepers.

Like the beach resort the holiday apartments failed soon after opening after visitor figures
took a sharp decline for whatever reason.....Some locals believe that mystical jungle elves
are to blame for the projects failure but that's another story ;-)

The Mediterranean style apartments were impressive and just like the main resort on the
other side of the island, I was hoping for another kind of post apocalyptic empty world experience,
but at this location I was soon to be disappointed as we found a small live on site maintenance
force keeping the site ticking over.

No matter, we kept to small talk and they tolerated our presence.

The show apartment, this one is maintained to high standards in the off chance an investor pops
round and wants to rescue the project. Other than this all the other rooms were empty shells
and most were locked.

Next is the golf club house, there wasn't much to see unfortunately. I'll post up the pics
when I'm done editing.

The Golf Club:

The main building was nothing much, for such an impressive course I'm surprised the club
house sucked so much. The main feature of the club house was the watch tower. The tower
had a small siren installed which could be used to warn golfers of approaching thunder
storms and lightening strikes.

Work crews were nearby so not the best of exterior shots for the club house unfortunately.
