Healey Mills goods yard is in Horbury, Ossett, West Yorkshire. It had been a place on the list for a bit, and as the sun set, it seemed to be a great place to visit.
It was once one the largest marshalling yard in Europe, however it is on its last legs, weeks, if not days away from possible closure for ever. Sadly, I am not good at loco names, otherwise I would be able to let readers know more.
A diesel, still operational.

Much of the remaining locomotives are in various states of trashedness.

A drivers eye view.

A dead shunter, smashed and tagged.

Most of these locomotives have already gone to different railways. A few more will go before this place shuts.

For many, this is the last resting place before they are coupled up, and begin a final journey to the breakers yard at Rotherham.

There's something folorn about these locomotives.

Many of the roads have gone, and where once trucks and engines worked, odd sleepers and track remain.

I loved this place. Such a great visit and yet knowing these locomotives are going to scrap is strangely sad.
