This is the Urbex Police. Stay back, stay back, nothing to see here...
Once upon a time, 10 years ago or so, Caistor was high on the urbex tourism list. Today, all of the former workhouse and hopital have gone, flattened and now a good place to walk dogs. All that remains is a small chapel hidden amongst the trees.
The chapel was built in the gounds of the former workhouse, and took about a year to construct. It was finished in 1866 and had seating for 200 worshippers. It was dedicated to St Lawrence.

To the west of the chapel was the graveyard. Here the poorest of the poor, the ill and the lost would have been buried. Some could afford headstones. Today the land is overgrown and forgotten.

Today the chapel is empty, stripped and not watertight.

Beams of light enter through a hole in the roof.

It's sad to see a building that was once important for worshippers like this.

I'm not sure what the future holds for this little chapel, and why it wasn't demolished along with the rest of the site. It isn't going to last much longer anyway.
