Visited the huge complex of buildings known as Hunslet and Victoria Mills in Leeds on a cold clear November afternoon, the light was just great.

This massive complex of mills has stood empty sine the 1970s and is due for conversion into flats and houses. The company who owns the site, Caddick, actually seem to be getting on with it at last and have laid paths and concrete bases for builders portacabins to stand on. I asked one of them and he said work is going to start in January.....a massive task.

The mills are all completely empty but some nice signs remain and few other bits and bobs. Getting into the site is not the easy task it was 18 months ago.

Caddick are a pretty decent company, they made flats out of the building I live in without screwing up all of the listed front of it (they even left some "Easter Egg" old features here and there in and out back of the building. Its probably in the best hands outside of dedicated reconstructing conservationists.

It looks pretty clean of graffiti for a building as big and as derelict as that or is it all pretty much focused on one or two sections of the site?

No mate, it's just very secure and there are easier targets for vandals ;)
