I really liked this place. We'd had a few no accesses by mid afternoon, and the next stop on a tight schedule was here. As a walk in, firedamaged and trashed you don't expect much, and to be honest, there isn't much here. But it's a very enjoyable, chilled way to spend an hour or so.
Most recently, this place was a refuse collection centre, and landfill. Aka Blackley Fire Clay Works, Wilkinson's Brickworks, Blackley.

The chimney at the works was built in 1894 and was a local landmark.

Window (of course)

Downstairs was ruined, covered in tiny plastic/polystyrene balls. It looked like an explosion in a beanbag factory.

Upstairs was cool, and after some of the worst ladder climbing in Britain, I got up. My favourite room.

With some fine grafitti

I guess this was the remains of a conveyor.

This brickworks closed in 1985. It is now open to the elenents.

The lift shaft is there, but my picture of the machinery was rubbish.

Will the last explorer out please turn off the lights.

The Great Silver Snake of Elland Brickworks can be seen in the background

A familiar site, having been done before, but a nice one nevertheless.:thumb

I struggled to climb the ladder to get upstairs. The chimney was too hard for someone who is rubbish at climbing. I am considering getting a mobility scooter for forthcoming explores.

Mate, your forth pic down of your fave room, are the bottle and cans still there? I don't see them in the corner anymore

I didn't see them mate. It could very easily be me not looking. It will be sad if they have gone though. I always like that little banner picture when it appears :)

If that place was an animal they'd put it down to put it out of it's misery.
