Visited with Zotez and Cookie Raider. The first mortuary I've ever visited, and a pretty cracking one to boot too! After a couple of fails at Cambridge Military Hospital (a fun story to tell, but not unless you want to hear it) and finding the access to Broadoaks Manor locked and tied shut, we resorted to this as a final resort. Initially finding the original access point shuttered over, we found an open window and got in. NB: I'm being explicit about access because this was sealed on the Monday after.

Definitely an interesting and worthwhile explore, that's for sure. Lights still on throughout, water still running, with the occasional screech of a fire alarm amidst extensive mould and decay. Obviously it's a mortuary, so it's bound to be quite an odd experience for an average explorer like myself.

And of course, the ubiquitous slabs

At this point, we heard voices outside. Then they got louder and I was convinced it was security coming to catch us. They came inside; I stood in the doorway and heard light switches being flicked and moving shadows. I call out, and a man appears...

Turns out he's an off-duty employee of the hospital estate services and paramedic, coming to check up on the building. With him, an auxiliary nurse. They were nice people, and didn't throw us out. The paramedic told us security are aware of the window being unsecured, and are coming round the week after to seal it up for the upteenth time. He was worried we were drug addicts or worse; after all, these places are a magnet for such behaviour.

In hindsight, I thought it was a bit offensive to do what I did, so forgive me if this comes across as offensive, but I finally ticked off something I had on my list for a long time: to take a picture of myself on a mortuary slab and inside a fridge.

Love as always,

Funny you should say that, the PM tables were covered with body fridge drawers for some reason! As for the fridges, I chose the only one that wasn't full of damp and water!

Looks bloody grim in there. I don't think i'd have gone in that fridge! At least the off-duty employees were cool with you, most just call the cops. Probably another explorer put the boards on the inspection tables.

Nicely done mate. Some good angles on the place there. Still have not managed this place yet - living in Newcastle and not driving does not help lol. Cheers for posting!
