Visited with mistericeman.

We looked for this one a couple of years ago and I'm amazed we couldn't find it but you could walk right past it and not see it if you didn't know it was there.

Hanging Flat was a lead mine, once upon a time, but at some point, before the entrance was backfilled, it has been used to film scenes for television (Peak Practice?) and they'd left several polystrene rocks in there.

The mine splits off into two headings - this is the left one.

Skip wagon body in the right one.

Looking along one of the headings, can't remember which but it all looks pretty much the same.

Looking down onto a lower level. The false floor that we were stood on at this point was a bit er.... dodgy.

The way in and out was by sliding on one's arse and slithering through a gap barely large enough to get through.

Who ate all the pies? ^^^

Then we had a bit of a mooch looking for Red Rake sough and mine.

The remains of the mine buildings. The headstocks were built into it and the shaft is covered with a paper-thin sheet of rusty steel.

Red Rake sough has nothing to do with the mine above, even though they share the same name. The sough dewatered a different mine. We didn't go in cos there was a rusty gate not far inside and by now we couldn't be arsed. Apparently the sough is run in not far beyond the gate anyway.
