Had a quick wander round here on Saturday and it always amazes me what a strange place it is. It's also a UE site that everyone can access.
There are two abandoned lighthouses one of which only closed down in 1986 and the other has been converted into a now disused water tank. There are loads of old MOD structures on the point included some heavy gun mounts and support buildings. These are all gradually being reclaimed by nature.
The sea defences built by the MOD are now crumbling and the whole point is under serious threat from erosion. The sea defences here always reminded me of the D Day Landings. The Military left in the 1950s
