Now I was told about this place quite early on in the year, a friend of a friend who is a film student got permission to do a bit of filming inside, this was when security was still on site. Well after ceremoniously getting fired from my shortest job ever, from a studio in Hartlepool, I thought I'd go for a looky. Obviously I was on my own, I got to the end of the road (its a dead end which ends at the factory site) I was greeted with a lot of JCB's.....I didnt know what the hell they were doing but figured a U-turn would be a good idea.

After chattering with Poolie Girl and another localler from Derelict Places, cant remember who it was told me but they had been chatting with police on site, there had been alot of cable theft, therefore they often came down with the dogs. Bad times. But there was some good news - theres a public footpath running round the side of the factory, therefore allowing a very good get-out-of-jail-free-card. Good times!

I ended up exploring the place with UrbanFox and WellWasp.

Now I had read a bit about the site being to do with salt refining, and thought thats just what it was, but turns out that what it originally was and it was then turned into Sharwoods food factory.

There are some exterior shots here:

No exteriors from me unfortunately, being outside was rather dodgy, the site seemed to be very active! A police car drove round (Miss Fox was told that they often come round and sit and smoke/skive whilst pretending to patrol) and whilst the two of us were in quite an exposed area a car stopped right outside a door. Run and make noise or play sitting duck? Light tip-toeing was the preferred course of action.

The site is pretty huge and theres always alot of jumpy noises to be heard, this was one of my jumpiest explores to date actually.

Fuck knows what this was, not a swimming poor surely. We came up with the theory that they put milk in and stirred it.....not sure why but if anyone else has any better ideas, answers on a postcard please!
