Vernon Carus Mill-July 2012

After alot of fannying around over the pest week i had finally got a good look around the mill. Was visited with a non member which helped alot. As soon as i was inside the fence i had to check out the boiler room. After that it was swiftly over to the main mill its self. Upon leaving we where seen by security. Was a understanding chap and told us that he had caught someone the night before are vista.

History

Vernon Carus was the first company to produce surgical cotton. They have always been at penwortham still 1915. The mill finally closed in 2006 and moved the short distance to leyland, where they will produce surgical supplies. i even have some of there stuff in my first aid kit.

There was full time security on when I went in 2007 as there'd been complaints from locals that the local pondlife had been running amok in the place. Pictures are on my website somewhere, looked a lot different then as there'd been no demolition at that point and the place was completely intact. Didn't get access to the machinery though:(

Haha no way! - If I'd known there was security there I probably wouldn't have gone in nowhere near as much as I have done in the last 6 years
