One day I decided to cycle out on a old railway track that i had been considering a while and came across something of moderate excitability in an urbexers point of view: a lost railway building, as well as some bridges.

The first bit I visited was a junction on the railway line between Kirriemuir and forfar as shown by this map:

I think the wee building is a platelayer's hut … some interesting bits and pieces on the old Strathmore main line, including the big viaduct at Cargill.

A lot of the abandoned lines of Scotland are never really explored, due to there very rural locations. I plan on doing one hopefully soon, where there is an abandoned wooden trestle bridge, similar to the type you find in the USA, now thats rare!

Get out there and find some more, its worth recording, its amazing what still exists look down the sides of embankments etc. Thats where a lot of stuff got chucked, signal arms etc.
