After visiting this tunnel for 3 years . I finally got lucky.
It was build in 1914, is 1550 meters long and cost 700.000 € what was a lot in that time. It was the biggest train tunnel in Belgium in that time. It was closed in 1969. The tunnel is very dangerous as big rocks fall down.
2010:
My road-trips are always full of unexpected things.
First I Drove to my college 'defender' but the roads where so slippery that I spun 3 times around and ended as a Phantom driver at 10 cm of the traffic separator. Okay no damage. We switched cars and then I drove with defender to our destination. At some point it was so slippery that his car didn't get up the hill. The police had to push us up there ^ ^.
Then we stopped at our closest point to the destination. We had a GPS position somewhere in the forest. We dropped our car and we went on foot with a very old and worthless GPS and tried to find our destination.
After 3,5 hours walking in the forest with 30 cm snow we finally found what we where looking for: 'the tunnel of Damocles'. After driving so far and walking so long it was a bit disappointing to see that everything already was melted.
