Visited this place early last year after a weekends camping at "Shell island" in Llanbedr .
I usually head over towards the slate mines of Blaenau Ffestiniog BUT fancied a change so we headed off hunting for gold .

High above Ty’n y Groes the gold vein runs for about 2 miles and was probably originally mined in the 18th century.
It's prime was in approximately 1860,Cefn Coch was the 3rd richest gold mine in the area only below Clogau and Gwynfynydd .

Some of the various adits that range up the hillside ...None of which are especially spectacular varying from short to not very long but wet .
There are a couple of the lower ones that are gated and locked due to the flying furry mammals :censored.
There are some nice bits of mineralisation if you look carefully though .

All together more of a surface "mooch" (and dog walk) rather than an "Epic" underground explore,
But made a nice change from the usual stuff AND i was glad we made the effort to visit some new stuff .

To some folks Welsh gold is indeed white and fluffy .....

And yes Wales has some cracking fun to be had AND not always the most popular ones

LOL the one pub we could find that was open was like the one from American Werewolf in London, only the Welsh version......

The lovely village we though turned out to be something from a Lovecraft Novel LOL

I like that gold mine though mate and I would deffo poke a round there.
