Nice one. Looks a bit longer than Crigg. :D
Why is it bricked in the middle if there's access from both east and west ends?

I can beat you on that, i did it when i was 9...!
There used to be a lake in the tunnel after the 2nd airshaft upto the 'Berlin wall' from the west entrance, we used a couple of milk crates along the side to get through, the water looked well manky.
Incidently, i was told that the wall was built sometime in the 80's by BR upon hearing some blokes were regularly riding trials bikes all the way through, so it was built to stop them, much to the dismay of trackside maintenance engineers who used to drive their vans from shipley on the old trackbed & on through the tunnel to get to the Esholt section of line for maintenance.

Hey I'm not saying this is the answer but my guess would be to stop people walking through it - as it is you'll get a few curious folk wandering in to have a mooch but if there was no wall, hey presto it becomes a tunnel and people can use it to get from one place to another, you have people walking through, people walking through with their dogs, you could have kids riding their bikes through, maybe even people riding thrie horses through - god forbid any local authority should let a tunnel be used as a tunnel (at least not when they can't charge you to use it lol)... Just a thought :smile
