This is the Church of St John the Baptist at Kirk Hammerton near York. This church is still concecrated and fully active. However, I think it's worthy of inclusion in the heritage section here if for no other reason than its great age. The tower and south aisle are Saxon and, as such, date from around 950AD. Other parts of the church are of 12th Century Norman origin. There were two, deeply insensitive, periods of rebuilding and restoration in the 19th century, and plenty evidence of this is still visible. However, it is worth bearing in mind that the surviving Saxon portions of the church are older than most of the existing fabric of York Minster and they more than make up for the 19th century "vandalism".
