Allonby ROC Post is located in a nice area overlooking the sea. It's got easy access to it via a public footpath that runs a few yards away from it.

We weren't expecting much when we went because Subbrit said it was locked on the Original Padlocks, and it was. The padlocks were still there and the Keyhole was filled with rubble :(, Thats a shame because if it has the original Padlocks on not many people may of entered it or tried to enter it :smile

Air vent is badly damaged and the FSM pipe has a rust hole in the side of it, well camouflaged into the hedge.

But overall it's in a good condition except the concrete around the hatch was cracking and the step was cracking as well. Inside is probably flooded a little due to the Air vent being destroyed.

Hahaha, yeah, it was funny coz when we entered the field it was like in the corner and it was staring at us and then while we were looking at the post it walked into our exit path, and was staring at us for our whole journey back, it would if been creepy if there was more than 1. :)

I went to this one after my trip to Scotland, did you park near the sign that says 'Allonby'? If you did, it had a funny tag line, I will try and find the pic at home, it kind of sums up the area lol

Some of mine from the post, what interested me was the post office and BT posts just down the hill, do you reckon they were for the ROC post?

This was about 3 meters from the post...

Both of them are for the post, do remember that when the posts where built in the 50's the UK telephone system was run by the Post Office.

Ahh thats interesting, the post office running a system we would most rely on if hit by a Nuclear Weapon. :)

Although the Post Office/BT were trusted with providing communications in the event of a Nuclear War, they were not so trusted by the Americans who were based over here.

They ran there own system called Autovon which ran parallel with the BT system, but much more protected against EMP and breakdowns.

We have the two systems in place at Upper Heyford and its interesting to compare the two:coffee

ROC Communcations were replaced continuously untill they had EMP Protected Cages. Think the last major bits of equipment in group hq's were the SX2000's
