Ding ding! All aboard the open-top tourist trail bus. Next stop Ysbyty Bryn Seiont, north-west Wales' hottest new destination. Big thanks to Blober for the heads-up about this place back in February. I'm only just getting round to seeing it properly now though, because I'm slow.
The Caernarfon hospital site opened in 1914, and was controversially closed as an in-patient unit in 2004, before its eventual replacement, Ysbyty Eryri was completed, but had only been used in recent years for administration, clinical and training purposes. In 2009 it was bought by a couple of care home entrepreneurs who never got round to doing anything with it, and then there was a big fire.
I loved it here - there are some nice features, a couple of lovely chairs, some excellent curtains, and after having done no exploring for a couple of months, this was a fantastic place to get started again.
