HAROLDS WOOD HOSPITAL & MORGUE – ROMFORD -2011

Early days
the site first became into Medical use in 1909 when the Grange, a large Victorian house built in 1884 was purchases and used as a convalescent home for patients. Primarily for children.
In the next 30 years the hospital grew building by building with demand within the area.
In WWII it served as an emergency hospital for the wounded,
then after further expansion in 1963 the Hospital became a District General Hospital.
It eventually closed on 13 December 2006.

The final breath
as part of the agreement, Countryside Properties has promised to give £3 million of funding to the schools in the area and for health and transport facilities.
Nothing like a little sweetener?
