Visited on a very cold night last December, But a good night was had by all.
First to London road deep shelter. Built in 1941 it was one of two deep shelters
to protect the people of Portsmouth during the blitz. The other shelter was in nearby Wymering
now sadly sealed up . London road shelter was designed to hold 2,500 but could hold double that if needed.
on with some pics. Taken on a bridge camera so nothing special.

Fascinating, love how much stuff is left down there! Fancy loads of people using the toilet at once!

Luckily there used to be wooden partitions between each which are now rotting away on the floor.i have a picture of another toilet room where the partitions are still partially hanging unfortunately its on my old computer, along with lots of other pics, which I have given to a friend. When I get them back I'll post it for you to see.
