Rathfriland Post has seen better days, closed in 1968 only the entrance shaft remains, the farmer has removed every other above ground feature. An interesting note to this post is that it was the most expensive one built in Northern Ireland due to the amount of stone that had to be removed from the site, it cost £1,900 in 1959.

The shaft is flooded with the worst smelling blackest oily water that I have ever seen, the farmer informed me that the post was always damp, even when in use, he says the last time the water was low enough to climb down the ladder was in the late 80's during a drought.

I only have the prices for the ones in Northern Ireland, got access to a file(s) which pretty much covers 31 Group from 1954 until 1991.

It has the prices for all the equipment too including the receipts from the Home Office, amazing document, been going through it for weeks.

For instance...... In 1960 a brand new GZI would have set you back £25!

That post is fucking horrible, but still good job looking at it and interesting to know its price, not a cheap one back in the day!

Also have assess to a homeoffice document of post sales, interesting read are these things and rather rare paperwork :thumb
