Thought I'd throw an older post up. Visited here in March with Royalbob.

Opened in 63, abandoned in 94. All that's left are a few bits n bobs and the towers - apparently they can't drop em as it would knacker the nearby riverbank and cause flooding. Also lots of asbestos contamination risk if they were demo'd.

The sheer size of the towers is awesome - really can't explain the feeling of standing under one. Just amazing.

I get conflicting reports, Lots of workmen on site at the moment. others are saying that they're building a waste regeneration plant on the site, whether thats what they're all upto at the moment..
