GoSteady

Hello everybody, we are new to this forum, so thought we’d fire straight in and post up a report for an old Mink farm near Huddersfield we visited last Sunday.
Apologies if this isn’t up to scratch – but it’s our first one and loved doing it, if not for the fact it got a bit edgy at some points! :(
We found out about this place through a friend who used to go and play near there as a kid in the seventies. Not been able to find out much about the place, except that it closed in approximately November 1989. Apparently, hundreds of mink were let out by activists at one point, but we are unsure if this is the reason for its closure.
Probably more to do with pressure from lobby groups.
Quite an eerie place, completely uninviting…..

There are 13 sheds lined up down the hillside. Access was pretty poor due to the wildlife, but managed to get to the few nearer the top of the site.

We ventured into the solitary building at the top of the farm, that was probably used fro the loading and unloading of the mink, due to being at the top of the driveway. The offices were on the top floor….

MMMM!...

Noticed this scary looking device in one of the pitch black back rooms. Was probably for stretching and drying the skins?...

Date born, parent details etc..These tickets were everywhere above the many remaining cages….

Someone hoped they’d be lucky…
