With the intention of a revisit to GeeBees I was out and about this morning getting more film and came home via the top end of town. I'd had my eye on this for over a year but BalfourBeatty are well on the ball, as soon as the doors lock the dozers move in then within a week a new steel framework is erected on the same land....impressive turnaround.
So I noticed today the old original part of the hospital had been fenced off with Herras and it was only a matter of time before we found an open section to squeeze through. I've got a personal attachment to this part of the hospital as my daughter has been in here several time in her short life for various things and revisiting the wards and places she's been during her stays there was a bit saddening that it's soon gonna be gone.
As always, the reclamaition mission is in full swing....everything of value is ripped out, stripped and weighed in and anything left is processed and sold on again. A lot of money is paid for simple aggregates these days.
We did run into security....after 3hrs of trouble free exploring but only cos I wanted to go back towards A&E to where the Chapel is. The poor bloke was about 5ft 2" and must've only weighed about 5st.....the look on his face as me and Grea came round the corner was a picture, his face just dropped. All he could muster up was "err...have you got any ID...." :lol:

Now for some internals. I really expected more security but it was absolutely hammering it down, and with demolition well underway the structural integrity is definately compromised.....but if it can handle me and Grea stomping about it's tough as chuff!

Originally used as a Theatre this room was left to rot and became the canteen/kitchen for the entire hospital. Here is a pic of it in more recent times in full use as canteen:
