Delph Mill

Had a quick stop off on the way back from Lostock and yawned massively at the rest of the building but the basement is pretty cool, so we got out our torches and tripods and tried to light the shizzle out of them.

Bailey mills was originally owned by the Mallalieu family and produced fine woolens in its later life. The mill fell silent in 1999 and has remained abandoned since then. Its now fooooooked, sad really

The whole time we were in here we thought we could hear kids outside trying to get in, on our exit it turned out they were metal goblins. Good job we got out just in time and luckly they didnt see our entry point too

Onwards.....

Mate, those are phenomenal, I need to get a weaker torch... major lulz when: "Arrrgh mate you've overblown me shot again, wehere's me lucozade etc etc" As mentioned by Mr. C, the mill spaces are absolutely fucked, some exceedingly poor graffiti artists have tainted the walls with their lurid shite and the only reason for our visit was to have a look at this superb machinery held within the basement. Still in generally good condition, all still chained and oiled... I haven't a clue what's going to happen to these wonderful examples of textile producing history, I hope a museum, we shall see.

Here are a few shots of them:

Big ups and props to Urbexphotos for pointing out how we missed the access last time in the form of an exceedingly detailed photographic step by step walk/squeeze in :thumb

This must be the first time somebody has shone any real light on these megga carding engines. My torch wouldn't touch em

These shots were taken where I used to work :thumb Amazing engineering skills designing these.

Soz for posting pics on your thread buddy, but just wanted to show some more shots of these amazing machines, and It's a shame the ones in Bailey's can't be broken down, taken out, rebuilt and preserved as part of our heritage :thumb

Nice pics lads. You can see that some of the machines have been stripped partially. Superb machines there SH! Nice to see them with wool loaded in.

Great work as always chaps, those machines were fully intact when I visited, its a shame to see this go downhill but I guess some things can't stay forever.
