Chester Cathedral is the mother church of the Church of England The cathedral, formerly St Werburgh's abbey church of a Benedictine monastery, is dedicated to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since 1541 it has been the centre of worship, administration, ceremony and music for the city and diocese.

The full history can be seen here.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Cathedral

Now I always find that trying to photograph Cathedrals and Churches brings with it many problems. Firstly, they are more often than not dimly lit and therefore getting the correct exposure can be a right ball ache, especially when in most cases tripods are not normally allowed. So you have to bump up the ISO which then ends up with grainy images, and playing around with contrast to try and bring out some of the more fine details can also kill the shot. However, having said that, the Cathedral is rather stunning, and photos just don't do it justice really. You have to be there to appreciate the grandeur :thumb

Visited with our lass.... Joybee :kiss:sick:D Now I can hear you all saying " FFS Get a room" Well we did :thumb :laugh

Anyway...... Nuff waffling on..... Hope you enjoy :thumb

I would just like to point out that his noble Silentness did not join me in the said bedchamber until the early hours :( He chose to discuss culinary matters with the hostelry chef over several frothing ales and then had a few problems ascending the rather fine c. 1580's staircase

I've never had any problem in Cathedrals using tripods - must be lucky ;) Great shots nonetheless!

Like the decoration on the roof. I haven't had the tripod police yet, maybe their shop sales were down
