Cocking Limeworks dates back at far as the early part of the 18th century. The site closed in 1999 and has been left derelict with most, if not all of the machinery left on the site. This is a fantastic example of nature reclaiming an industrial site. It was a very tranquil explore, but thoroughly enjoyable!

No doubt the most captured shot of the limeworks I have seen online, the rogue armchair outside the main entrance

The site was littered with dead animals, this appeared to be a badger, I also found fox's and a number of birds.. makes you wonder if some of the industrial stuff left over is toxic to animals

How they got this sofa through the doors of the tiny shed is still a mystery to me! lol

The site is littered with bags of lime stome and cement..

The side of the kilns, as you can see the forest is claiming this land back!

The old staircase to the quarry, rusted away, we had to opt for the hillside accent to gain access

And here is that hillside.....

Inside the quarry area, the staircases are anything but safe!

These are the kilns where the sand-lime bricks where produced. Took alot of venturing around to find out how to get up to these, the entire kiln area is rusting away and falling apart, these were taken from a distance as all of us where to pussy to get up real close!

These are shot taken underneath the kilns, I assume this is the sand-limestone mix thats produced for making the bricks..

Thanks to Light and 2 non 28DL explorers for a great afternoon, a low risk explore in regards too security but a site with a great deal of history and picture-esq scenery to go alongside!
