Visited with Darwin Dave and AndyJ, big-up to andyJ for doing all the rigging.

Heron Pot, has a very similar feel to it as the crab walk in Giants hole, but with a little more room, or at least for the most part. It's a simple through trip starting up the hill, following the main stream way down to the first of 2 abseils, both rigged as pull throughs meaning we would have to squeeze out of the hole at the end no matter how much water there was, luckyly there wasnt much.
really enjoyed this place, it was fun, there wasnt a whole lot of room to get pics of the good stuff, so not many pictures, and the ones i have taken were mainly done hand held with the flash on, so they aint great.

pics.

Then onto yorda, this is more of a verticl cave, we went in at the second pich down the hill to avoid the crawl after the the one at the top of the hill.

After the first short abseil, you are right at the bolts for the second, andy quickly rigged this and down we went, comming to the 3rd.

Looking at all the bolts in the wall i began to wonder what i had let my self in for, after watching Andy spend 40 mins swinging from one bolt to the next to rig a traverse out to the pich, i decided it was probably a bit beyond my ability, andy tried to get me onto the rope, i did the first 2 sections of the traverse and decided if i was to continue i would get stuck on the 3rd or 4th due to the hight of the bolts, and would no doubt have to be rescued, as we hadn't rigged pull throughs, i headed back, SRT'd back out and walked down the hill to the lower chamber, feel a bit of a tit for not doing it, but not as much of a tit as i would of felt if someone would of needed to rescue me.

once in the lower chamber, andy ascended the ropes and derigged it all, i walked out of the big hole in the wall into the sun, which did a good job of drying me.

You went to great effort to bag those pics by the look of it. The amount of equipment you must have to carry and the time to set it up is worth it though!

The main shaft really is a head spin for sure. When technology of the day was the rack  We witnessed a bad fall in Stream Passage. Some poor dude unclipped from the rope on a ledge which was a fair way from the floor. God knows what made him think he was down I will never know. Took them 6hrs to get him out. Luckily just broken bones.

Worst trip I did was Quaking. 12hrs down that tight bastard and still never bottomed it :(

to be honest, it was just my camera, extra small tripod and my back-up light.

I'm planning to do GG in a couple of weeks, when the winch is there to pull my fat arse back out. as for the others, i just go where i'm taken, but if i'm going to be doing many more wet craweling passages, i need some warmer waterproof type clothing, tracky bottoms and a boiler suit just isnt doing it for me.

We all had to start somewhere mate. Equipment aint cheap, but as with most sports, rather essential. Staying warm and dry is paramount really, and not just for the safety factor.

Have a great time at the winch meet, and Bar Pot is nice and dry as an alternative way into GG.

Stay safe :thumb
