Croppergate And Hope Shaft

After trying to make photobucket work all day and still failing to stop it from freezing my computer I decided to cheat on it and give flickr a go and well have my post so I guess it works.

After a meet up with Captain Cave Man in my local we headed off to a couple of places he knew and wanted to show me, the first was Croppergate.

On to hope shaft

Hope shaft is part of the hope pit and is on the grounds of The National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield

Captain Cave Man wanted to show me inside the shaft building but it was sealed tight, but that wasn't gonna stop me from getting a shot down the shaft so with a lil help I climbed up the shaft building an took this shot looking down from next to the wheel

Looking towards Thornhill

I wanted to get to the very top of the shaft building and take a shot down the shaft from above the wheel and a Panoramic shot towards Caphouse Colliery, but these tourists kept pointing at me so it was time to get down.

Thanks everyone. Yeah it was a great day out.

There's one more pic at Croppergate I forgot, to take this I had to lay on asbestos and put my arm in a arm length pipe not much bigger than my fist (as you can see health and safety is high on my list). I have been informed that I am most likely only the second person to take a pic of this shaft.
