I've often seen this place travelling southbound down the M1, just past junction 29. Today saw a visit to the FREE place, owned now by English Heritage.

Nothing really left here to show how great it once was, except the odd tile and plaster work. That's what happens when you have no roof on your house.
Or doors.

A lovely place to photograph (if you are any good of course). Up the chimney flue. No small children were used in the taking of this photograph (Victorian chimney sweep joke)

There was a sealed off cellar. I attempted to photograph it through a small ground level opening. Alas my attempts were thwarted by a small toddler jumping on my back.

Parents. A good place for yer wee nippers to explore without needles, asbestos, rotting floors, plus no ghastly plastic toys, uniformed staff or "gift" shop.
