Visited Dodge Hill with BB as this place has been on the to do list for a while. Thanks to Captain Cave man for the info!

Think its safe to say that we werent disappointed as the place still contains bunks and laterns.

It was a really eerie place to visit as you could almost imagine people down there during the raids. Although conditions were clearly cramped and toilet facilities left a little to be desired, the place is still in great condition which just demonstrates its ability to last until now and withstand air raids!

History
Dodge Hill Air raid shelter was one of Stockports three deep level air raid shelters.
It was chipped out of natural sandstone and provided shelter for stockport residents during the second world war.
The smallest of the tunnel shelters could accommodate 6,500 civilians. The shelters were constructed in 1938 and 1939which was just in time for Stockport's first bombing on 11 October 1940.
