OKay... So the first time I ever visited this place I never took any pictures. I now need to re-visit - not that I'm complaining as it is a very pleasant explore - as I seem to have missed the walled gardens within the Estate, a graveyard, church (I think the church is pretty dead), a tower (next to the church apparently) and I may need to get exterior shots.

From what I know is that Dunmore Park House was built Circa 1820 - 1822. Parts of it were demolished by some twatish farmer some years back. It's a B-Listed building so it's not actually meant to be touched hence The Pineapple is still acceisable and is looked after by the NTS. If parts hadn't been demolished, the roof hadn't been taken off and it hadn't been stripped it would probably look a hell of a lot different... Sadly we'll never actually know.

Built for George, 5th Earl of Dunmore, between 1820 and 1822 to the designs of William Wilkins.

Formerly known as Elphinstone Pans, the settlement was entirely remodelled as a planned village in the 1840s by the local landowner, the Earl of Dunmore. Dunmore is a conservation area.

The Dunmore Pineapple, an 18th century folly owned by the National Trust for Scotland, lies south of Dunmore, on the estate of the now-derelict Dunmore House.

The population of Dunmore was recorded as 79 in the United Kingdom Census 2001, and as 70 in the census of 1991.

I found a couple of pictures, courtesy of RCAHMS. It genuinly breaks my heart to see such a beautiful building.. It really isn't as nice any more and I really would have loved to have seen it like this.

For those interested these were shot on a Nikon D3000 with an 18-55.

I think TheSurveyor got some exterior shots so I'll ask him to post some as well. Thanks for reading :thumb

PS. For the Fine Art Photographers out there or those who know of The Yerburys... This is their 'secret Gothic Mansion' ;)
