Have wanted to do this one for ages but the place is so busy with drug users I haven't managed to get in - until today!

This was on my list to do today first but there were too many people coming and going - so we headed off and did the Emmfield Villas and came back later - and hey presto the place was deserted (we hoped)

This place is seriously trashed now and those beautiful stained windows have almost all gone now too. We also came across two rooms that are being used by some homeless people who were thankfully not in when we popped in to visit!

The hospital was established in 1893 and was used to treat women in the last stages of cancer or other incurable diseases until 1948 when it was turned into a geriatric hospital.

On with the photo's....

The exterior..

This is the old engine room thingy that now doubles as a drug den...

Thanks for clearing up what those doors were in the third picture - I did try and pull them out but they were jammed solid. This is another image of the dry closets and an image of the furnace that was next to it...

I think we also found some original features but not sure...

Is this a fireplace?

Don't know what this is....seems to be some kind of grill?
