In 2006 I worked in Northern France for one of the European camping companies. Awesome time! This is where I had my first taste of Urbex too!

The site was near two villages called Berny Riviere and Vic-Sur-Aisne, and the two nearest towns were Soissons and Compiegne. This area was badly damaged by both WW1 and WW2 action and there were literally dozens of underground caves which were dug during WW1 I believe. There was a front line about a mile away and we were lead to believe that they were used by the French Resistance, civvies and soldiers.
They ranged from very large (1.5km square) to smaller and many still have their original features such as, air raid sirens, WW1 cars, chapels etc.

Once I work out how to get pics on these threads then I'll be on it!

It would if attachments were accepted by the forum...

Bex - you need to upload your photos to an image host, sites like Flikr and Photobucket will do this for free once you sign up with them.

Bex, on each Flickr photopage there's a small drop-down arrow next to the email, blog and facebook symbols (top left of the photo). Under this you can select "Grab the HTML/BBCode", select "Medium 500" from the drop-down list towards the bottom, and make sure that the option highlighted under that id "BBCode". You can now cut and paste the text in the box and paste that into your post/report on the forum.

The text you copy results in this:

The story goes (or so we were told by locals) that 2 members of the French Resistance were strapped into the car by Nazis, the car was then pushed into the cave (in the same position as it's in now) and torched :(
