Stoned

You would have to be to stoop up this!

Myself & Stepping Lightly went for a closer look at the Outfall to see where and what this system was.

With the amount of Ochre that had once run through here, it was almost certainly colliery related, although having explored as much of it as we could above ground, it appeared to disappear under the railway, we didn't manage to locate the source on this occasion.

Built in 1896, the Brick & Stone dressed Outfall is stunning, getting up and down a 7ft wall with one leg was a challenge, but worth it.

There was an occasional whiff of fresh despite the water being clean?

Stepping Lightly disappeared into the 3ft brick pipe to see what was ocurring, after about 5 minutes he retreated as it was stoopy as fuck, and he said he could see light in the distance.

We decided to climb back up and follow the line of the tunnel, as draining wasn't an option for me, besides none of were equipped for water.

After an age of wandering about boggy land on teh crutches we managed to locate a manhole chamber next to some railway sidings, S.L. popped his head in for a look, again there was a whiff of fresh, yet as I looked down the water was once again clear.

We walked a bit further but the tunnel disappered under the railway at this point and we were losing light, so we decided to call this one a day.

A cool looking drain, but prob not worth the effort of stooping miles to find the Infall.
