Mid Wales Hospital, Talgarth - February 2011

I was woken up at 7.30am to head up North, however our colleague in Manchester arranged other plans and with nothing better to do decided to drive over to Wales.

Mid Wales Hospital was built in 1903 as the Brecon and Radnor Joint Asylum in the Echelon Narrow Arrow layout, serving 1000 patients at its peak. The hospital was closed down during the 1990s and closed entirely in 1999. The site was partially used as a business park, in 2009 the slates were removed which has contributed to further deterioration of the site, and more recently the clock faces and its mechanism was removed entirely.
