Great link to 5 films exploring the Manchester underground Telephone exchange.

The Guardian, It is 112 feet (34m) below ground and cost £4 million to construct. The main tunnel, one thousand feet long and twenty-five feet wide (300m by 7m), lies below buildings in Back George Street,

It has always fascinated me, there was also kingsway (london) and anchor (birmingham constructed on similar principles).

Id Love to see it some day but ive heard its still used to trunk the various fibreoptics and cabling around the city.
