So back to Lincoln to visit County Hospital. I Derren Brown'ed hiddenshadow into driving us there again and beat ZerO81 in calling shotgun resulting in a rather relaxing journey there and back.
What I thought was going to be a relatively straightforward explore turned out to be anything but. Where we had planned to get in was sealed and the asbestos contractors were raking in the overtime. After a ridiculous entry we were confronted by a mock up of the E.T set - the areas in which the contractors are working have been sealed behind plastic fences and tunnels with decontamination areas, big extractor fans and temporary lighting. It all looks very serious. The work seems to be taking place in the basement and on the ground floor at the moment, who knows how quickly they will progress on to the upper floors. If you haven't been then maybe now is the time to get there...
Sharing the building with the workers and being able to hear them as they went about their work made for a tense but highly amusing explore. A couple of them even had the temerity to try and get in my staircase shot. We somehow managed to get out undetected, high fives all round.
History seems to be pretty thin on the ground for this place. It's still a live site with these bits being left empty as the place has grown and modernised.
