WW2 Bunker (Re-visited), Wigan - Present - Ojay, DocP, Buddah & Blino.

I originally stumbled upon this place back in March last year whilst I was checking out the nearby Mill.

Although not much history it appears that this was an air raid shelter constructed for the nearby Mill workers.

Much of it has been backfilled and sealed over the years.

Constructed of blast proof concrete this underground network of tunnels was quite substantial and would have originally been home to a few hundred people during the blitz.

I managed to find this archived photo, which would have been some kind of access or escape hatch.
